The 'nino' has landed!

Yesterday I took delivery of the latest addition (and last!!) to my instrument collection; a lovely little sopranino sax in rose gold finish. It was promptly placed on awaiting peg next to my soprano, and students were told that there was exciting news, yes..the soprano had had a baby!

The Sop looks positively huge next to it, and when playing my alto afterwards, it felt like a bass! It's a lovely little thing and i'm going to be working with my tuner in order to get good results quickly (at least that's the plan!).

New projects are underway; I am writing a tango for saxophone ensemble and making good headway with it, apart from the fact that my notation software refuses to play back the bass sax part, leaving me to fill in the part vocally (as you can imagine this is not as effective, and has resulted in fits of giggles several times on my part!).

I'm also writing an ambient yet dark piece for piano sax and clarinet, there is a deadline of 30th October so this is my main project at the moment.

Also, after a number of requests for recordings (many of which are from youtube members who have watched my 2 EWI films, cringe!), I am putting together a list of pieces that I would like to include on a Cd that I hope to record in the nearish future. It will feature sax, Clarinet and EWI, maybe flute too. I hope to include one or two of my own compositions (new ones) and a real variety of styles.

As concert season begins to unfold again, I am really looking forward to the next series of Equinox concerts, it's such a buzz, and a real incentive to knuckle down to some proper and effective practice; Armed with tuner and metronome, I may be gone for some time!

Happy tootling!

Playing my Yani SS801 (IIRC) sopranino makes playing the sop high notes much easier. Playing the Eppelsheim soprillo makes playing the nino high notes easier. What do I get to make the soprillo high notes easier to play? ;o)

Need pics of your nino for the guys who read your blog. We like to watch. Cheers. :o)
